Detroit Meeting

About half century ago I sat at a table with Vaughn Monroe when he was appearing in Detroit.  We discussed the music business in general and song writing in particular.  Mr. Monroe liked some of my original lead sheets and was very encouraging.   I found him to be a polite, pleasant, normal person who was really interested in reviewing a stranger's musical ideas and original tunes.   A real down to earth nice person was my impression of him. . . then, and it would remain the same now if we were to meet.  That will not happen however, as things are so much different now in this crazy music business. I always enjoy the "sounds" of the Big Bands and Vaughn Monroe was a great addition to that era.
